Academic title:
Principal Research Fellow
Field of research
Materials Science; Engineering; Chemistry; Construction & Building Technology; Metallurgy & Metallurgical Engineering
Milica V. Vasić graduated (2006) and completed her Ph.D. thesis (2013) at the Faculty of Technology and Metallurgy, University of Belgrade. She has been employed at the Institute for Testing of Materials IMS since May 2006 and has held the position of Principal Research Fellow since 2024. She is ranked among the top 10% of researchers in Serbia based on scientific excellence and research output.
Her research focuses on the usability of raw clays, industrial by‑products, and secondary raw materials in the production of construction materials, with a strong emphasis on sustainability, circularity, and resource efficiency. She works extensively on the optimization of raw material composition, technological parameters of ceramic production, and quality assessment of construction products.
Dr. Vasić also conducts research in geopolymers and alternative binders, eco‑efficient ceramic materials, process engineering, and high‑temperature phase transformations. She applies advanced analytical techniques (XRD, XRF, SEM‑EDS, thermal analysis) and integrates statistical modeling, machine learning tools, soft sensors, and data‑driven quality management into her studies of raw materials and industrial processes. Her work additionally includes real‑time production monitoring, digital transformation in traditional industries, and life cycle assessment (LCA/EPD) of building materials.
She has published more than 100 bibliographic units, including over 75 papers in high‑impact international journals. Her current h‑index is 20 (Scopus) and 19 (Web of Science). Over the past five years, she has reviewed more than 280 manuscripts for leading international journals and is a certified reviewer for Elsevier and Clarivate.
Dr. Vasić coordinated a sub‑project within the national multidisciplinary project III45008 (2011–2019). She is a member of several Serbian ceramic and materials science organizations, as well as one international association, and maintains active collaborations with colleagues worldwide.
She serves as an Editorial Board Member in Scientific Reports and has led, and continues to lead, several Special Issues in international peer‑reviewed journals. She is also a reviewer board member for multiple journals.
Dr. Vasić is also a member of the Shareholders Assembly and the Science Council of the Institute IMS.
