Laboratory for Construction Ceramics
The Institute for Materials Testing is the only institution in the region and beyond with comprehensive expertise in the field of construction ceramics, covering the entire process chain from the testing of primary and secondary raw materials, through production process optimization, to the quality assessment of finished industrial products and factory production control. The advanced technical capabilities of the laboratory’s equipment, combined with a multidisciplinary scientific and engineering approach, enable the effective resolution of specific technical and technological challenges in this sector, while supporting a wide range of research activities.
The activities of the Laboratory for Construction Ceramics include the assessment of the suitability of ceramic raw materials for industrial application, testing the usability of natural raw materials and determining their applicability for specific products, evaluating the potential use of industrial waste as a partial replacement for primary raw materials, optimization of drying and firing processes under laboratory and industrial conditions, development of various technical solutions, identification of causes of defects occurring after product installation, and testing of finished industrial products in accordance with applicable European and national standards.
The most important projects covered by the laboratory are given in the following table.
