Laboratory for concrete

In the field of concrete technology, the Centre for materials provides services for the selection of component materials and design of the composition of concrete mixes, sampling and testing of fresh concrete (consistency, volume, entrained air content, measurement of the temperature of fresh concrete, determination of setting time), production and care of samples for testing hardened of concrete, examination of the physical and mechanical properties of hardened concrete (compressive and tensile strength, water penetration depth under pressure, chloride migration, frost resistance, frost resistance in the presence of de-icing salt, corrosion potential of steel, determination of the characteristics of air pores in the hardened concrete concrete, determination of the static and dynamic modulus of elasticity), examination of the rheological properties of concrete (shrinkage and flow), examination of the concrete embedded in the structure (measurement of the temperature of fresh concrete embedded in the massive elements of the structure and determination of the temperature gradient, determination of the early strengths of shotcrete, as well as the early strengths of concrete embedded in the structure, destructive tests of the hardened concrete embedded in the structure – extraction of cores, examination and testing of the compressive strength of concrete samples, determination of carbonation depth, non-destructive tests of hardened concrete embedded in the structure – determination of the size of the rebound, determination of the speed of the ultrasonic pulse, i.e. determination of defects and propagation of cracks in the concrete structure) and testing of prefabricated concrete elements and concrete fittings.

 

Activities related to the factories of concrete producers include: specialist expert supervision of laboratory work, basic and control checks of production capacity, monitoring of the quality of component materials, quality control of production and assessment of the achieved grade of concrete in production, quality control of fresh and hardened concrete at the construction site and assessment of the achieved grade of concrete to control compliance with the conditions of the construction project and the concrete project.

 

The activities of the Laboratory for concrete include the preparation of studies, expertise, final assessments of the quality of concrete in construction and concrete projects. Numerous research results have been published and applied in practice.
